ALIA CIPS

Australian Library and Information Association's (ALIA's) . . .

Co-operative Information Purchasing Services

for ALIA Institutional Members

The purpose of ALIA CIPS is to enhance access to information and knowledge through co-operation among the ALIA members for the benefit of their user communities.  This CIPS project is provided by ALDIS Associates.

ALIA CIPS brings together a membership network of libraries and other organisations in collaboration with many partners, local and international, to form focused information partnerships.

ALIA CIPS gives access to expertise in researching vendor offers and undertaking vendor negotiations.

ALIA CIPS assists Institutional Members -

  • to share and maximise resources

  • to reduce information costs

  • to establish co-operative collection policies with like-minded libraries

  • to provide equitable and easy access to information for all

  • to save time in researching and negotiating for information resources

  • to maintain awareness of information resources of interest.

ALIA CIPS will especially benefit  smaller libraries and information services and those from the special libraries sector.

The ALIA CIPS project was officially launched in August 2003 by ALIA and ALDIS at the 10th Asia Pacific Special Health and Law Librarians Conference in Adelaide.
